March DLT Monthly Meeting Summary - "Storytelling and Effective Communications"
We had an amazing conversation on Friday, March 14th about the importance and power of storytelling, and effectively communicating with different audiences. As technology investments become a more regular and critical dimension of how your organizations will compete, you and your team will need to possess a high degree of persuasiveness skills to gain support for these projects. To support our conversation, we were delighted to bring in a number of experts who each shared their perspectives (with recordings included below), including:
Harold O’Neal - provided musical inspiration around how we can easily create meaning, and change meaning, through techniques around tone. Harold guides individuals and organizations in harnessing the power of music and storytelling to create deeper emotional connections, unlock creativity, and communicate with impact. Through my Art of Music and Storytelling experience, he helps leaders and teams translate ideas into meaningful narratives, using music as a powerful lens to shape and enhance the way they tell their stories. Whether it's within business, entertainment, or innovation, his work is about helping people craft stories that resonate, inspire, and move others to action. (DLT MTG VIDEO)
Dave Zaboski - shared some of the origins of storytelling and how our species is uniquely tuned to imagine a new future. Dave was a master illustrator at Disney during the second golden age of Disney movies. He now shares insights, tools and practices for turning thoughts into things with his company Creatively Speaking. Dave also included two art pieces for inspiration: 1 and 2. (DLT MTG VIDEO)
Susan Lindner - reminded us that there are core elements for improved storytelling, and how we need to connect to the different audiences that may be listening in. Susan is a CEO and Founder of Innovation Storytellers, which specializes in innovation storytelling. Susan helps innovation leaders + change makers to become amazing storytellers to get the resources, runway and recognition they deserve for their breakthrough ideas. Through keynotes, workshops, consulting, and group and 1:1 coaching, teams learn the fundamentals of the art and science of storytelling. They gain practical Innovation Storytelling frameworks to engage audiences, nail their future presentations, and make meetings more meaningful, memorable and productive. Harry Pickens - demonstrated how AI prompting can help leaders to consider ways to pitch and improve their project ideas, using a custom GPT. Harry helps purpose-driven leaders unlock their unique creative genius through the art and neuroscience of strategic AI partnership. Most professionals using Generative AI access only a fraction of its potential. When you move beyond basic prompting for content and code to engage in dynamic, strategic collaboration, you enter a new realm of possibility—a poly-intelligent ecosystem where your creative and strategic capabilities can expand exponentially. He helps leaders 'crack the code' of prompting mastery so that they can harness the power of Generative AI to amplify their impact as a force for good in the world. (DLT MTG VIDEO)
We encourage you to review the videos, and we would be happy to connect you with any of our speakers for additional conversation about storytelling.
